Howard Eads Obituary

Howard Eads

CHARLESTON – Howard Stanton Eads slipped peacefully through the heavenly gates on April 6, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in the presence of his loving family.

Howard was born June 10, 1931 in Burksville, Kentucky to Gurstel and Opal (Cloyd) Eads.

Howard married Jan Vanatta on April 7, 1978.  He also leaves behind step children: Jeff (Janet) Vanatta and Jay (Melanie) Vanatta, his beloved grandkids, Kaylee Vanatta, Jaynie Vanatta, Jessi Vanatta and Jeb Vanatta, and many friends.

Howard leaves behind a great legacy of the students he taught Industrial Technology and Drivers Ed to at Kansas High School and the clients he served in Real Estate since 1968.

Howard started Howard S. Eads, Realtors in November 1974 at a former Gulf Service station he bought, added to, and transformed on Lincoln Avenue.  He retired in 2022 from one of the longest running real estate careers in Coles County.

Well known to be an avid fisherman, he fished the lakes in Canada’s fly-in country over 40 times for Walleye.  However, the lakes in Louisiana, Texas, Missouri and locally, never escaped his passion.

He discovered the world of Ham Radio later in life. He was an examiner for students wanting a license, and proud to be on the highest level to choose his call letters K9HSE.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Charleston Masonic Lodge #35 A.F. & A.M., Ansar Shriners, and Valley of Danville, 32nd degree.

No services at this time, a Celebration of Life will be planned for next summer.  Memorials in Howard’s honor may be given to: Shriner’s Hospitals for Children
