Lola “Mae” Elliott
MATTOON – Lola “Mae” Elliott, 96, of Mattoon, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
Her graveside funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon, with Reverend Steve Morgan officiating. Per Mae’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements: Harper-Swickard.
Mae was born October 29, 1924 in Arcola, Illinois, one of eight children of Vernon and Sadie (Fletcher) Hidlebaugh. She is survived by three sons, Michael (Barb) Elliott of Charleston, Alan (special friend Sam) Elliott of Mattoon, and Donald Elliott of Heyworth, IL; two daughters, Barbara (Jack) Murdock of Mattoon and Julie Lannon of Florence, MS; grandchildren, Rusty (Jessica) Elliott, Tracy Westjohn, Tammy (Trevor) Longcor, Jackie (Jim) Frazier, Ryan Elliott, Dillon Elliott, and Nicole (Scott) Lawrence; twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, granddaughter, April Fisher, and daughter-in-law, Jan Elliott.
Mae worked at Yardman in Sullivan and the shoe factories in Mattoon and Charleston. She loved country music, particularly Alan Jackson. She will be dearly missed by her family.
