Peggy Pankey-Floyd
ASHMORE – Peggy Jean Pankey-Floyd, 92, of Ashmore, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bushton Christian Church or Winebrenner Church of God.
Peggy was born March 28, 1931 at Fairgrange, Illinois, daughter of Irma Grimes. She married James Pankey, August 8, 1947 at Fairgrange. He passed away June 3, 1994. She later married Merle Floyd; he survives. She is survived by her children, Mary Jane (Bill) Bradley of Charleston, Larry (Kim) Pankey of Toledo, Sue (Lyle) Hunter of Charleston, Kathy (Donald) Gandy of Mattoon, Eric (Estrella) Pankey of Charleston, Lisa Sparks of Ashmore, and Lori (Charles) Lampley of Charleston; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Fields (James Brewer) of Colorado Springs, CO. Twenty-two grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, fifteen step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and six step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Pankey, and one grandchild, Hope Pankey.
Peggy retired from General Electric. She was a member of Bushton Christian Church and attended Winebrenner Church of God. Peggy was an avid bowler. She loved flower gardening, fishing, and attending sports events for her family.
