Sandra Jean Taylor
HERNANDO, MS - Sandra Jean Taylor, age 75, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital, Olive Branch, MS.
Sandra was born August 10, 1944 in St. Anthony Hospital, Effingham, Illinois. She was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ, Greenup, Illinois.
Sandra was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband Howard B. Taylor, son Justin Taylor, daughter Lacie Clark (Michael Clark). and granddaughters Linda Taylor, Ainslie Clark and Rowen Clark. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Grubb and mother Marjorie Grubb, as well as sister Pamela (Grubb) Warpenburg. She is also survived by sister Brenda (Grubb) Ely, and brothers Phillip Grubb and Mark Grubb. Sandra had several nieces and nephews she was very close to.
Sandra taught public school at Oakland, Illinois and then at Pana, Illinois CUSD #8. After a disability retirement, she taught preschool for several years for Sullivan Preschool in Illinois, and Sunshine House in Georgia. She stayed home for several years to raise Justin and Lacie in between retirement and teaching preschool. She also organized and taught a preschool in Herrick, Illinois in the library for a few years. She had so many stories to tell about her teaching, and remembered children’s names avidly.
Sandra also was a game player of Scrabble and a variety of other games with her brothers and sisters. Sandra and Howard followed children Michael and Lacie, and later granddaughters to live in Mississippi in 2012.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Caudill-King Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Charleston.
