CHARLESTON – Shirley L. (Witters/Thomason) Barry, 95, of Linton, Indiana, formerly of Charleston, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

 

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Charleston.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

 

Shirley was born April 19, 1924 in Charleston, a daughter of Elmer and Mable (Lanman) Witters.  She married Tommy H. Thomason in 1941; he preceded her in death in 1976.  She married Walter Barry in 1977; he preceded her in death in 2009.  Surviving are her sons, Larry Thomason (Susan) and Ken Thomason (Velma); eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by a son, Ronal Thomason, a daughter, Marcia (Thomason) Collins, grandson, David Thomason, granddaughter, Lindsey Thomason, sister, Jean Courtney Peak, a brother, Charles Witters, and sister, Jenelle Witters, who died in infancy.

 

She was an avid singer and piano player in church, and loved china painting.  She was a member of the Church of God (Anderson, IN) and attended its’ member congregations where ever she lived.
